Salvador Dali Inspired Paper Plate Clock Craft

This week, I have been gathering a collection of children’s art projects inspired by famous artists for a future post. While working on this post, I felt inspired myself to do a craft with my daughter. One painting & artist that I have always found fascinating was Salvador Dali & his melting clocks. I thought this would be a simple project for Mai & I to do together while introducing her to one of the great artists & also teaching her about time & numbers.

What you will need:

A paper plate

Paint

Construction paper

Glue

Directions:

Crumple up a paper plate & bend into a wavy pattern.

Paint around the outside ridged portion of the plate.

Paint 2 clock arms & 2 circles (one big, one small) onto a piece of construction paper in the same color as used above & then cut out.

IMG_2756

Glue the larger circle to the top center of the paper plate. Glue the clock arms onto the center of the plate with the smaller circle in the center connecting the 2 arms.

Cut numbers out of different colored construction paper. Make them skewed or wavy.

Glue them around the plate making sure that the numbers are not placed too perfectly.

Let dry & display your melting clocks.

    1. Thanks Janine! They were fun to make. I showed Mai the original artwork and she thought they were so funny.
