Yarn Wrapped Broomsticks

Halloween is a favorite holiday in our house. My daughter is very theatrical and loves to play dress up and, of course, she loves the candy as well.Yarn wrapped witches' brooms crafts for Halloween. A great fine motor skill activity and kid's crafts. Arts & craft for preschoolers.

Last year, my daughter was a witch and while she outgrew her costume, she still uses her witch’s broom and hat all of the time.

As she played with it the other day, it gave me a fun idea for a Halloween craft for us.

All you will need for this craft is sticks and some yarn.

We still had sticks left over from our nature crafts from last week.  We selected ones a little on the thicker side.

Choose the color or colors of yarn that you would like your broom to be. Use just one color or combine colors to wrap your broomsticks. You might want to cut the yarn into strands for smaller fingers so that it is easier for them to work with.

Wrap the yarn around your stick covering from end to end. When you are satisfied with your stick, tie the yarn in a knot at the end to hold it in place.

Cut equal length strands of yarn for the bristles of your broom. Place the yarn around the stick. My four year old had a little difficulty with this part and asked for help arranging the yarn around the stick.

Once you have the yarn in place, wrap another strand of yarn around the yarn bristles to bind them to the stick. Wrap it around several times and then tie a knot at the end to hold the yarn into place.

We made several little brooms and my daughter loved them. She used them as little dusters all over the house.

    1. Thank you. Great post. You have a lot of great activities. I want to make a leaf book with my daughter this year. That sounds fun.
