Over the fall, my daughter and I had a blast making autumn trees. We painted and experimented with a few different methods, but our favorite was this lovely fall tree painted with bundled Q-tips.
They were such a huge hit with my daughter and our readers, that I thought that we could use this technique to make a tree for every season. This is a great project for toddlers to adults. Just draw or paint your bare tree. Children can draw their own trunk and branches or you may assist them with this portion. Bundle a handful of Q-tips together with a rubber band and dip into the paint and press onto your canvas or paper. For a full tutorial just click on the fall tree photo above.
I painted the cherry blossom tree mixing different shades of pink and white and just a dab of green.
You can also use blue watercolors to quickly paint around your tree to add to the effect.
The summer tree is a mixture of different greens and the sky was painted the same as above.
The winter tree was painted on a blue background and white paint was used for the snow.
This is a simple and beautiful way to create a beautiful scene for all seasons.

I just want to say thank you for that brilliant idea. I am re-doing my bedroom and wanted some fun art that I could do myself and your Cherry Blossom tree idea gave me just what I needed.
Thank you Angela. I am so happy to hear that. I would love to see what it looks like when it is finished. I love cherry blossoms. That sounds like a great backdrop for a bedroom.
