Yarn and Pipe Cleaner Coiled Roses

Spread the love

Roses are red, violets are blue, we love yarn and pipe cleaners too. If you’re looking for the perfect craft for the spring, Valentine’s or Mother’s Day, look no further. These coiled roses are great for developing fine motor skills as well.Pipe cleaner or yarn coiled roses. A great fine motor skill arts and craft idea for kids.  My daughter and I both love working with yarn and with pipe cleaners. Yarn wrapping activities are a favorite of ours. My daughter also loves threading buttons and beads on pipe cleaners. These are wonderful for building her fine motor skills and they make some fun crafts. A new favorite of ours is coiling yarn and pipe cleaners for craft projects. At first, the yarn was too tricky for my daughter’s little hands, so she would coil with pipe cleaners instead. Now she can easily work with both. To get ready for Valentine’s Day, we made these coiled roses using both materials.

Check out our video on our Facebook.

The first set of roses we made using the pipe cleaners.  We began by cutting some red and pink pipe cleaners in half and we left some whole. Next, we coiled both the whole and half pipe cleaners to form different sized roses.

We used school glue to glue them to a half of a piece of card stock and then used markers to draw in the stems and the leaves.

These pretty flowers are perfect for all occasions.

We also tried it with the yarn to compare.

Like I said, my daughter is getting to be pretty good at forming coils.

She made this one special for me with added hearts and some extra love. Doesn’t it just make your heart melt?

I used markers to color in around my yarn coils for some added color. These were fun and easy to make and are perfect for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or just because.

  1. Hope you are feeling better. There is a nasty bug going around here and some people have been sick for many weeks

Question: my daughter is getting married this July. I am trying you to find as many things as possible to do with my 3 year old granddaughter leading up to and during the process. Do you have any ideas. I am a 58 year old grandmother who is just starting to do crafts. Missed that portion of my life growing up!!!
