Ice Cream Cone Potato Stamps

This has been an amazing few days. There is still snow in my front yard despite the fact that we have had two warm days in a row, but I don’t even mind. It is almost gone & the nice weather is here. It felt great to get outside. Sunday we spent the day at the park with My daughter’s best little boy friends & yesterday we hit our local drive in for hamburgers & ice cream. She was so happy to get her ice cream cone. Her face said it all. She savored every last messy bite.

Butterfly Potato Stamp Prints - painting arts & crafts for kids and preschoolers for the spring and summer

With the spring nearing and the weather warming, I thought that a spring craft was in order. When I think of spring, I, of course, think of the flowers, of the rain and I think of butterflies. We are big fans of paint stamping. We have used potatoes, apples, marshmallows and other odds and ends to make prints. We had a bag of old potatoes, so they were going to be perfect for our spring project.

Cut a potato in half and then slice of a little bit from one end so that one end has a straight edge. Do this to both potatoes.

Cut a small V-shaped piece out of the side opposite of the straight end. Carve a line from the V to the opposite end.IMG_0152

Dip both potato pieces into paints of assorted colors.

Stamp the two pieces of potato side by side with the straight edges facing each other.

Christmas Ornament Potato Stamps

Sitting in our cupboard in the kitchen is a sack of old potatoes that are growing sprouts. Those potatoes had seen better days and were on their way out. It would be such a shame to have to waste them, so we had to make sure that we put them to good use. In the fall, we made potato Jack-O-Lanterns. With the holidays approaching our potatoes have taken on a new form.

Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Stamps

Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Ornament Stamps

Last Christmas, we made Christmas ornament stamps out of potatoes. These were a big hit with my daughter. She loves stamping projects & we are a big fan of potato stamps. I have seen many people using toilet paper rolls as stamps by bending them into various shapes such as leaves, hearts & pumpkins and I thought what a wonderful idea.

We used our tubes to form two different shaped ornaments. I cut one tube and bent it to form the top of the ornament.

I used a glue gun to glue the tops in place like shown. Make sure the top piece is flush with the tube.

The ornaments are then ready to stamp with. I cut out a Christmas tree shape for Mai to stamp on, but she was not interested in the tree. She just wanted to stamp on a plain piece of paper.

Mai did not want to use the tree, but mommy did. I stamped the ornaments on the tree & let the paint dry.

I used paint & glitter to decorate the ornaments & my daughter chose to use scissors & cut hers out for a project of her own.
