I have a confession to make. I used to be addicted to scrapbooking. It has been quite a few years since the last time I touched a scrapbook, but I still have a bin filled with pretty paper and scraps. These lovely mixed media Christmas trees were the perfect project to use up some of my old scraps and turn them into something beautiful.

Pastel & Watercolor Winter Scenes
We are expecting our first snowfall tomorrow. There are very few things as beautiful to me than the first snowfall of the year. Just the thought of snow, made me giddy and inspired this fun and pretty art project for the kiddos. We live in the woods, so I just wanted something that looked like our backyard after a snow storm.
This is an easy painting project that will be fun for kids to adults. I think they will love how the pastel resist and the watercolors work together to make these simple winter scenes.
3-D Construction Paper Christmas Mouse
Twas the month before Christmas and all through the house, construction paper was cut and folded and made into a Christmas mouse.
Christmas is less than a month away and you are probably looking for some cute and easy Christmas crafts to do with the kiddos. This adorable Christmas mouse craft is perfect for the mantle or as a cute ornament for the tree.
Paper Cup Christmas Bells
On an impulse, I bought a box of jingle bells the other day. My daughter ripped into them immediately and started playing with them. She ran and got herself a pipe cleaner and made a jingly anklet. My little girl, was so thrilled about her new musical jewelry that she wanted to make more with our jingle bells and making bells seemed like an obvious, but fun choice. This is a great craft for the holidays. Make a Mr. & Mrs. Claus or some angels. Try a pack of Christmas carolers or just decorate your bells with paint, markers, tissue paper, stickers or gems.
Mixed Media Elf Shoes
We love mixed media art projects. Last winter, we made several mixed media artworks including a Christmas village, a snowy birdhouse and even a cute and cuddly little penguin. This year, we started our first, of I am sure many, Christmas projects with these adorable elf shoes. We say elf shoes, but the fun and focus is on the tights. Break out your paints, newspaper, markers and anything else you can think of and make your own cute and funny elf project.
Fork Painted Christmas Tree
♫ Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, this fork painted Christmas tree craft is looooovely!! ♫
We love playing around with different painting methods., especially ones where we get to paint without brushes. If you have a disposable fork and some paint, you can make this pretty project today. This technique is fun, easy and perfect for painting Christmas trees or winter tree landscapes.
Pop-up Santa Puppet Cup Craft
Believe it or not, there are only 55 days left until Christmas. Before we know it Santa will be coming to town and he will be heading to a chimney near you. We made fun pop-up puppets a few months back and they were a big hit with my little girl. I couldn’t wait to make them again. These Santa puppets are a great idea for the holiday season. The Dixie cups made a perfect chimney for Santa to pop in and out of.
Trim Santa’s Beard Cutting Activity
My daughter loves using scissors. She got her first pair of safety scissors when she was two. She loves cutting activities and crafts. Among some of her favorites were a simple paper plate hair cutting activity and a trim the Christmas tree one.

Working on scissor skills is great for your child’s fine motor skills and their hand eye coordination. Scissors are also a useful tool and if your child is anything like mine is, it is also a fun activity.
A Piece of My Heart Homemade Ornaments
Whenever I look at our Christmas tree, I have to smile. Slowly over the years, all of our beautiful glass bulbs have been being replaced one by one by homemade keepsake ornaments. Our tree is filled with so much love and memories.

My daughter has been insistent that our tree doesn’t have enough ornaments this year, so we have been working on filling it up. Salt dough ornaments are our favorite. With cookie cutters and paint, there are a million possibilities. We had an idea to press puzzle pieces into our clay to make these “pieces of my heart” ornaments.
Potpourri Christmas Tree Craft
We recently inherited a large bin filled with potpourri fillers. My daughter & I were so excited at the opportunity to use them in our crafts. We started a few days ago by using them to make salt dough and nature wreaths. We also formed some lovely winter wonderlands. While making our wonderlands and playing around the potpourri, we came up with another idea for the season.

The potpourri that were used were cinnamon pine cones, cinnamon sticks, star anise, pink roses and some other items that I am not sure of, but I am sure many potpourri fillers or herbs will work nicely.
