Here is an easy and fun bit of process art that the kids will love for Easter.

My daughter loves to draw. She is learning and getting better every day. We found some wonderful art books for her at the library with great techniques and drawing exercises. One that we loved was Art for Kids: Drawing (affiliate link). It is a great book for kids and adults alike. One simple and fun technique that we found in the book is the inspiration for this Easter process art. Moana fans will love these Kakamora inspired coconut pirate crafts.

Moana is the new favorite movie in our house. My daughter just can’t get enough of it. There are so many wonderful songs and characters in the film. The funniest of the characters are the coconut pirates called the Kakamora. They are cute and deadly.

My daughter and I both wanted to make a craft inspired by the nutty pirates. I had an idea to make them out of a paper plate. My daughter had an entirely different idea in mind. She wanted to make hers with foam and paper. Here is how they both came out. Also, check out our Moana inspired flower crown.

Do you have a little Moana fan in your midst? If you do they will love this Moana inspired flower crown.

Moana madness has hit our home. Our little girl loves the brave and feisty Moana (affiliate link). We have watched the movie more times than I can tell you and there is no sign of our daughter losing interest any time soon. She has even already requested a Moana themed birthday party for next year. With as crazy as my daughter is for this adventurous young girl, I wanted to make her a little something special (with her help). Moana wears a few different crowns and headpieces throughout the film, but I love her simple leaf and flower crown. I thought this would be perfect for a little pretend play.Moana inspired paper plate flower crown. Kid's arts and craft. Construction paper headpiece for dress up and pretend play.

If you are a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ fan, you will love this adorable Chip inspired teacup craft made out of recyclables.

We were lucky enough to get out to the movies this weekend and see the new ‘Beauty and the Beast’ movie. I am a big fan of the animated version, so I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the live action movie, but I loved it. It was absolutely beautiful. I love all of the characters from the movies, so it is hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to pick just one, it would have to be Chip. He is just so cute. I couldn’t resist making a teacup craft inspired by my favorite little teacup.

Canvas Drum Painting

This is a fun and messy piece of process art that the kids will love. Turn up the music and then drum and splatter and paint away.

We have once again gotten hit by another few days of cold and nasty weather. It has been sleeting and snowing and we have been stuck home, so we were looking for some rainy day fun. We built forts, made things with Legos and played with our toy instruments. The banging of my daughter’s drum gave me an idea. Rainy days are perfect for a little bit of messy fun and this canvas drum painting fits the description of both messy and fun.

If you have a Lego crazy child like I do, this Lego Easter basket is just what you are looking for this Easter.

My little girl is a huge Lego lover. We have more Legos than we know what to do with.  Her last birthday was even a Lego themed party. When thinking towards Easter and what I wanted to fill her basket with, Legos were the first thing to pop into my mind. Then I thought it might be even more fun to make her a Lego Easter basket, so I played around with her Legos to see what I could come up with.

These paper mosaic Easter eggs are cute and easy to make and great for practicing scissors skills.

My daughter loves to cut. It is a very normal occurrence to see her sitting at her craft table cutting construction paper into little pieces. I have bowls of cut paper all over the house. This is one of the reasons that we love to make paper mosaics. Easter is only a few weeks away. Bleeding Tissue Paper Earth Craft

Have you ever tried painting with tissue paper? This bleeding tissue paper Earth is perfect for Earth Day.

Painting with bleeding tissue paper is a favorite of ours. I am not sure what is more fun, ripping up the pieces of tissue paper or using the spray bottle and watching the colors run. Either way, we love this process. We have made snowflakes for the winter and spooky trees for the fall. The spring is here and Earth Day is right around the corner. This bleeding tissue paper Earth seemed like the perfect craft.

Picasso Inspired Cubism Art For Kids

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

This Picasso inspired art project is a wonderful introduction to Cubism for the kids. This is great for an individual or a collaborative project.

My daughter and I stumbled across a book at the library a couple of weeks ago and it quickly became a new favorite of ours. Emily’s Blue Period (affiliate link) is a lovely book about a young girl who wants to become an artist and is studying the works of Pablo Picasso. Emily is also struggling with big emotions about her parent’s recent split. The book discusses Picasso’s blue period, his work in collage and his Cubism style of art. My daughter, like the young girl in the book, became fascinated by Picasso. We flipped through his artwork online and read more about him. This weekend, after reading the book for the umpteenth time, she wanted to make a “cube” project.
