These Q-tip daisies are an adorable craft and are great for fine motor skills.

Cotton swabs are not just for your ears. We use them in art projects often. They are great to paint with. They are fun to craft with as well. We used bare Q-tips to make these simple daisies for the spring, but you could also dip the Q-tips in paint and create other colorful flower creations.

Mother’s day is a month away. If you are looking for a cute gift idea for mom or grandma, these simple cardboard tube vases might be just what you are looking for.

My daughter loves to run around the yard and pick flowers for me. It is the sweetest thing. We will usually put the flowers in a Dixie cup and save them, but we thought that it would be nice to make and design our own bud vases. These cardboard tube vases are perfect for the spring and would make an adorable Mother’s Day gift. You can choose to make a tapered vase, as we did or keep it even simpler and keep the tube as is and glue it to a base.

Nature and Watercolors

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Nature and watercolors combine to make a beautiful and fun piece of process art.

With the warmer weather here, we have been playing outdoors a lot more. All of this outdoor play means our nature boxes are filling up with great supplies for art projects and crafts. We gather and collect nature items all of the time and set them aside in boxes. It is fun to find different shaped leaves, rocks and cool looking plants. My five year old loves to glue nature items to paper to make collages. That is where we found inspiration for this nature and watercolors project.Nature and watercolor paints art collage for kids. A pretty and fun piece of process art for the preschoolers and kids. This pretty watercolor technique is perfect for the spring or summer.

In our house, we love to work with watercolors. We like to make our own because we go through them so quickly. We have made solid watercolorswhich we love to use, but most of all, we just water down acrylic paints or mix food coloring with water. It just so happens that we did both of these things this past week and had quite a bit of both leftover to create these gorgeous watercolor dipped flowers. Watercolor dipped flower art. Nature Crafting With Clay

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

I am beginning to think more and more that my four year old and my husband are the real writers of this blog, especially my little girl. She has been coming up with so many amazing ideas on her own lately, that I cannot help but beam with pride. Both of the crafts here today are inspired by my crafty clan.

My husband had a great idea to build log cabins out of sticks. I thought this would be a fun project for me and my daughter. We grabbed a box and set out to gather supplies, which as you know is always half of the fun. We gathered sticks and my daughter also grabbed a few acorns and rocks that she found.

Painting Petals Activity

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Painting flower petal - nature arts & crafts activities for kids. This is a wonderful spring & summer art project that you can do outdoors. - Great for all ages.My daughter went to her first live theater production with me last week. We went to see a youth theater performance of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. My girl was mesmerized.  She loved the music. She clapped and bounced along as they sang. One part that she really liked was when the cards in the Queen of Hearts kingdom painted all the white roses red.

We have been singing around the house “We’re painting the roses red, painting the roses red.”

While playing outside this weekends with my daughter and one of her friends, I looked over and spotted some lovely white flowers in our yard and while they were not roses, I thought about Alice and asked my daughter if she wanted to paint those flowers like the cards did. Her and her friend were overjoyed by this idea. I laid down a piece of poster board in our driveway and brought out some paints.

I picked one bunch of flowers and brought them over and thought the kids mighty enjoy painting it together, but as they began, they decided they each wanted to paint their own.

My my daughter painted each petal very carefully and her friend had a more dive in and get your hands dirty approach. Both were wonderful, with beautiful results.

They loved it.

This was a huge hit with both young ladies. I thought that they would like it, but I never anticipated just how much. We ended up eating a very late lunch because I could not pull them away from this paint project.

All of our projects came out great. We set each one aside to dry.

Her friend even asked me if we could paint another one the next time she came over. Of course, the summer is not over yet.

Nature Crowns

Paper Plate Nature crown craft made with flowers & leaves. Kids arts & crafts..

We love making nature crafts in our house. I am not certain what is more fun, gathering up the materials or actually making the craft.

For this craft we gathered a variety of ferns, leaves & flowers. Be sure to shake off everything to get rid of bugs.

Paint a paper plate in green & let dry. Cut the center out to form a ring. Use a hole punch to punch holes all around the ring.

Poke the plants and flowers into the punched holes on the plate. Thicker bunches of ferns & leaves should fit nicely, but some of the flowers & leaves may need to be taped down under the paper plate.

If you want to add more plants or flowers, add more holes with the punch. To add a little something extra, we glued a few gemstones around the crown.

Glittery Cardboard & Watercolor Flowers

Share on FacebookPin on PinterestShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

I adore my daughter’s creativity. We have been doing arts and crafts together for a very long time & I have watched her creativity soar. This next craft was all a product of my little girl’s crafty little mind. I loved it so much that I had to share.

Glittery cardboard flower over watercolor paints - a pretty spring or summer arts & crafts project for kids.

We use a lot of cardboard for arts & crafts projects and have tons of scrap pieces. She grabbed one of the pieces of cardboard and drew a flower on it. She asked me if I could cut it out for her. I cut it out and she quickly ran & got a glue stick and a piece of paper. She glued her cardboard flower to the paper. She grabbed a bottle of squeeze glue and glitter and spread the glue & glitter over her flower.

She painted her paper in watercolors & explained to me that it was a magical fairy flower.
