My daughter loves to cut. It is a very normal occurrence to see her sitting at her craft table cutting construction paper into little pieces. I have bowls of cut paper all over the house. I had an idea for a simple owl craft for me and my owl lover, so when my daughter had a sleepover this weekend and the girls asked me to do a craft with them, I was over the moon.
We don’t throw anything away in our house. We save cardboard tubes, egg cartons and every little scrap of paper. We work with construction paper a lot and we love to use scrapbook paper for our projects as well. Every left over piece of paper goes into a drawer in my daughter’s craft room. The drawer is full of scraps. You may wonder why we would save a drawer of scrap paper. Here is one reason that we love to hold on to these pieces.

We dug through our drawer and found the colors and patterns of paper that we wanted to work with. We looked for larger pieces of scrap. I love the look of torn paper, so we tore our paper into different sized strips and tossed them into a box.

I have been talking to my daughter about the upcoming holiday, so over the weekend, we made some crafts to help ring in the New Year. I can remember being a little girl and loving my mother’s beautiful hand fans. I thought that making some of our own would be a fun project that my 4 year old would enjoy.
It is that time of year. It is time to put up your Christmas tree, your twinkling lights and carefully unwrap all of your beautiful ornaments to decorate the tree. For me, there are none more beautiful than the ornaments made by my daughter. They will be the ones that I cherish and that make me smile for years and years to come.

Yesterday, we used some old corks and the last of our fall acorns to make a group of adorable Christmas carolers for our fireplace mantle. My daughter loved the idea of those carolers and thought that their little heart shaped mouths were so cute, so we just had to make another caroler craft.
My daughter and I had a lazy pajama day yesterday. We starting baking for our annual gingerbread project and we painted, crafted and drew. We made a lot of mess, but had a lot of fun.

I am a huge fan of gingerbread. Every year in November, I start gathering my supplies to build a big gingerbread house.
Here is a little secret about me. I used to be a scrapbooker, a big one. I have books and books filled with lovely memories set on pretty paper with stickers and stories surrounding them.
We just had our first snowfall here and while the rest of my friends have been grumbling and groaning, I have been celebrating our fall snowfall with snow themed activities. Any excuse for me to make snowflakes is a good one.
I love snowflakes. They are so fun to make & since, just like a child, each one is unique, the possibilities are endless.
I wanted to show my 4 year old how to draw snowflakes. She loves patterns, so I thought that she would love drawing them as much as I do.
