Painting With Nature Items

Use sticks, stones, leaves and branches to paint a fun piece of process art. Painting with nature is perfect for a spring, summer or fall day.

We have had a crazy few weeks weather wise. Last week, our yard was covered in snow. This week, we are wearing shorts outside. The snow was fun, but the warm weather was welcome. We took a family hike, went to park and just sat outside and enjoyed the weather. My daughter had a friend over during one of these gorgeous days. My daughter wanted to make a big art project with a roll of butcher paper that we have. I suggested that we take it outdoors in case it got messy and boy did it. The kids had a fun-filled morning of painting with nature and with their bodies.

Watercolor Dipped Flower Art

This pretty watercolor technique is perfect for the spring or summer.

In our house, we love to work with watercolors. We like to make our own because we go through them so quickly. We have made solid watercolorswhich we love to use, but most of all, we just water down acrylic paints or mix food coloring with water. It just so happens that we did both of these things this past week and had quite a bit of both leftover to create these gorgeous watercolor dipped flowers. Watercolor dipped flower art. Cherry Blossom Drip Art

This is a big week for us. Our little girl turns five this week. I can hardly believe it.  We have been getting things ready for her big Lego themed party, but still managed to paint a little something together in honor of her and her birthday. My daughter was named after my mother. They share the same name with the same lovely meaning, cherry blossom.

I love snowflakes. They are so fun to make & since, just like a child, each one is unique, the possibilities are endless.

I wanted to show my 4 year old how to draw snowflakes. She loves patterns, so I thought that she would love drawing them as much as I do.
