We are back again with one of our favorite painting techniques, sugar painting. We cannot get enough of it. The beautiful glossy finish of the sugar and watercolors were perfect for making these stained glass art projects. This is a great idea for the holidays, but it is also fun to make all year round.

Paper Plate Suncatcher Christmas Window

We have a tradition in our family. Every year, since the first year that my husband and I have been together, we put up our tree on the first weekend after Thanksgiving. It is always the same. We throw on the movie Elf, pour ourselves some egg nog and decorate for the holidays. This year, we are in a new home and there has been a little debate as to which window the tree will look best in front of. For me the view from the outside is just as important as the view from within.
Stained Glass Butterfly Pancakes
My daughter loves pancakes. We make pancakes together every weekend. Sometimes they are just plain pancakes, sometimes she wants apples in them & others it is chocolate chips and on occasion she asks for pancakes in the shapes of her favorite things, like princess pancakes.

She had two requests this morning. She wanted butterflies & she wanted sprinkles. Challenge accepted!
Start with a basic pancake recipe or you can use ours.
Ingredients:
1 cup of flour
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp of salt
1 cup of milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg white
Directions: Mix all the ingredients together. Use a blender to mix the batter to get out any clumps.
Use a funnel to funnel the batter into a condiment squeeze bottle.
Squeeze out the mixture to form the butterfly’s body, which is basically a line with a circle on top.
Draw in the wings with the mixture. **Note: If the batter get stuck, squeeze it off to the side to clear any clumps.**
Add lines to the inside of the wings.
Sprinkle rainbow sprinkles into the empty spots between the wings.
Squeeze batter over the sprinkles filling in the empty spaces.
Cook the pancakes as usual until they begin to bubble & then flip and cook on the other side. Serve them up with syrup or plain.
My daughter loved her pretty pancakes. We gobbled all of them up this morning. These were so fun to make & easier then they seem.

Stained Glass Snowman
This was our last week in our home. Our new house will be under construction for the next 5 weeks & we will be living with my husband’s aunt while we wait for the completion of our new home. Life has been chaotic & a lot of things have had us in limbo these past few weeks. Even with all that has been going on, we still managed to squeeze in a few crafts in between packing & moving. We were all about snowmen this week. We made acorn snowmen the other night & kept it going with one more quick snowman craft.
Stained Glass Jack-O-Lantern
We were given a few small pumpkins yesterday. Last night, after a rather long & exhausting day, my family all fell asleep early. I was a little bored & was antsy to do something with my hands. I grabbed one of the mini pumpkins, some Sharpies & regular markers and decided I was going to make a stained glass Jack-o-lantern.
I sat on my chair & a half and watched ‘Identity Thief’ with the pumpkin & and markers on my lap.
I drew on the Jack-o-lantern’s face.
I drew random shapes around the Jack-o-lantern’s face.
I used my daughters markers to color in the shapes. Different colored Sharpies would work best, but we didn’t have any so we just used Crayola markers.
This didn’t take me very long to make & I thought that it came out pretty cute. This is what a bored mama does on a Saturday night.
