Roses are red, violets are blue, we love yarn and pipe cleaners too. If you’re looking for the perfect craft for the spring, Valentine’s or Mother’s Day, look no further. These coiled roses are great for developing fine motor skills as well.
If you are a Dr. Seuss fan like we are, you may be looking for a fun and easy craft to celebrate his upcoming birthday. When you think of Dr. Seuss, what is the first thing that you usually think of. I almost always immediately think of the Cat in the Hat.

My daughter loves that mischievous cat and all thing Dr. Seuss, so I thought that this simple yarn wrapped Cat in the Hat inspired hat would be perfect.
Earlier in the fall, my daughter and I made autumn trees by coiling yarn and pipe cleaners. The trees came out so beautiful and were a wonderful fine motor activity for my little girl.
Heading into winter and with snow on its way this week, I wanted to try another coiled yarn project for the winter. Snowmen were a perfect idea for this method. Here’s how…
Yesterday, we used some old corks and the last of our fall acorns to make a group of adorable Christmas carolers for our fireplace mantle. My daughter loved the idea of those carolers and thought that their little heart shaped mouths were so cute, so we just had to make another caroler craft.
My daughter and I went shopping the other day and found that the Christmas decor was already in full force. She was wide-eyed and excited to see all of the holiday items displayed. “Look mama, Christmas.” We saw a pretty sparkly wreath in the store that caught her eye. She oohed and aahed over it.

I asked her if she would like to make her own sparkly wreath when we got home and of course she did.
My daughter loves to trace her hand prints and then cut them out. She will cut them out and draw little pictures on them and then use a hole punch to poke holes in them and string them up with yarn.
Halloween is a favorite holiday in our house. My daughter is very theatrical and loves to play dress up and, of course, she loves the candy as well.
Last year, my daughter was a witch and while she outgrew her costume, she still uses her witch’s broom and hat all of the time.
As she played with it the other day, it gave me a fun idea for a Halloween craft for us.
Ok! I am slightly obsessed with fall trees, but why wouldn’t I be? They are beautiful and so fun to make.

As you may know, we love working with yarn and I had an idea for a fall tree craft using yarn. I drew a swirly branched tree onto a piece of construction paper and cut a bunch of small pieces of yarn and coiled them with my fingers to glue around the branches. I thought that this would be a great fine motor activity as well as a pretty craft for my daughter.
We do not throw anything away in our house. Everything is a craft opportunity, so we hold on to it. I have a box full of old puzzle pieces. I pulled out the bag of old pieces & wanted to try to make a craft with them.
We just discovered that we have a hive of bees living in our porch. Every day for the past few weeks, the bees have been buzzing around our heads as we are outside playing.
There was one that lingered on our porch a few days ago & my daughter and I wanted to investigate a little. We watched it for a while as it rubbed its legs together and sat on our step.
