In reply to The Pinterested Parent. Agreed! For most first time parents, the fascination with their child is overwhelming. They feel like giving her the best/doing the best for her. But yes there should be a balance. Spending money is different from wasting money.

In reply to mammaspeaks. I know those people too. I have a cousin that puts her tot in only designer stuff. I can't imagine spending all that money for a handful of months and for it to be all stained and dirty all the time anyway.

A great blog! I know many people would make a face reading this but seriously everyone should consider this. There’s nothing wrong in wearing hand-me-downs from people you know and who take genuinely good care of their stuff. My daughter has worn many old clothes from friends and family and vice versa.

I never buy my son’s clothes new. The only new ones he has are from birthdays/Christmas. I will never understand buying baby and toddler clothes brand new when there are places with them in perfectly good condition for half (or more) of the price. I love finding deals too, it makes me feel like a super mom! Even now that Myles is in 2T and will wear them for longer, I still won’t buy new bc he is a toddler, a boy, and is growing so fast! Love all of these tips! We look for free stuff to do all the time too!

In reply to happymumhappychild. That is not terrible. When one of my girlfriends had her second baby boy, she had given away a lot of her stuff already. I gave her a ton of pink things. She used our bouncy and Bumbo seat all of which were pink.

In reply to Roaen. I used to work for JcPenney. As soon as the seasonal stuff went on clearance, I would leave there with bags of kids clothes. I have clothes all the way up til 5T and my daughter is only 2. Lol

Great tips! My kids get hand-me-downs, and my younger one gets the older one’s hand-me downs. We still buy new clothes for them, but I’m always on the hunt for sales. 🙂
