We have been reading a lot of books lately. On Sunday, I felt like we read about a hundred of them, though in actuality it was probable only about 5 or 6. In one of the books or magazines that we read together, there was a lovely illustration of children looking out the window. I love crafts in windows & I thought that a simple winter scene with the silhouette of children looking out would be a cute one.
I drew out my silhouettes.
I then cut out several silhouettes. To cut the space in between the children, I simple cut around the girl’s head & into the space. When you glue it down the pieces will join back together.
I measured out how I wanted my window on a piece of blue paper & then cut to that shape.
It formed a square. I had cut out some shapes for a snow man & trees for my daughter & I to draw on for our scene, but she wanted to draw her own winter’s day.
I gave her the square piece of paper & she jumped right in.
She drew a snowman first.
Next she added a tree & some snowflakes.
She made the ground blue because she said it was icy & the red was her sunset. Adorable!
When she was done with her drawing. We laid the window over it using craft sticks. We then glued the silhouette on top in the corner to look out. Her mouth was covered, so she wanted to fix it & added a few dots for a coal mouth.
Mommy made one with the cut out snowman & trees.
You can also pre-make your windows first & then draw in your scene so that you can position everything the way that you want them.

This totally reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad actually had a decoration he would put in our window that was of a Christmas scene silhouette. So truly brought me back and definitely would love to try this one soon myself 😉
