When I heard the weather report for this weekend, I was overjoyed. I could not wait to get outdoors with the family. I asked my daughter what she wanted to do & she wanted to bring her building blocks outside & play. We brought them out & began to build with them in the driveway.

I also had an idea that I found at the Creative by Nature website. I had seen it a while ago & could not wait to try it with my little girl. Find a shadow in your yard & lay down a piece of paper in its path. We found this lovely shadow.
I showed my daughter how the plant cast its shadow on the paper & invited her to paint with me.
She accepted without hesitation & began to paint the shadow.
What this project sparked was hours of shadow exploration. After my little girl finished her painting, she excitedly jumped up & went on the hunt for more shadows.
She made shadows with her body.
We traced the shadows of our head.
We outlined & colored each others shadows with chalk.
Our hunt for shadows eventually brought us back to our building blocks that we had brought out earlier.
Here are some of our fun shadow creations.
We had a long fun day of shadows & play. When we were done, this little one was ready for a nap & so was I.
Thank you as always for stopping by. Please follow us on Facebook as well.

So excited that the weather is getting nicer and warmer here now, too. Love your outdoor activities you shared here, as they look like so much fun and may need to try with the girls now!! 🙂
