A couple of weeks ago my daughter stumbled across a box of corks. It inspired us to make some pretty cork printed pumpkin patches. My daughter had some ideas of her own about what she wanted to do with those corks. She broke out her paints, went to work, and painted a couple of toadstools on them.
I thought this was such a great idea. They were adorable and it gave me an idea. So thank you to my 9-year-old for inspiring these cute painted cork fairy houses.
My daughter found a box of assorted corks the other day. She was so excited when she found them and immediately wanted to know what she could do with them. Her excitement rubbed off on me and I had to find a project for the corks too. These champagne corks were perfect for our pumpkin patch.
When you do arts and crafts as much as we do, friends and family will randomly give you materials that they think that you can craft with. I recently inherited a large jar of corks from my mother-in-law. We dug into them once already to make carolers for Christmas and then last night after watching the ‘Polar Express’, I dug into them once more to make a train.
My daughter and I gathered a bunch of acorns in the beginning of the fall for acorn crafts. While organizing our craft supplies, I stumbled across our last few.

With the kickoff to the holiday season just around the corner, I am feeling pretty spirited. I have to admit, I even started playing Christmas carols this week.
This weekend I took my daughter and my niece apple picking. Alongside the rows of apple trees were sunflowers as far as the eye could see. Those pretty sunflowers were the inspiration for our latest landscape painting. This field of sunflowers is perfect for the fall, super easy to make and looks just beautiful. Get your paint brushes ready little painters. This is going to be a fun one.
My daughter and I love to paint. We have been painting together since she was barely a year old.
Yesterday, we used some old corks and the last of our fall acorns to make a group of adorable Christmas carolers for our fireplace mantle. My daughter loved the idea of those carolers and thought that their little heart shaped mouths were so cute, so we just had to make another caroler craft.
My daughter and I had a lazy pajama day yesterday. We starting baking for our annual gingerbread project and we painted, crafted and drew. We made a lot of mess, but had a lot of fun.

I am a New Englander. I love the changes in seasons. I love winter, spring, summer & fall for very different reason. I know that we still have a lot of summer left & I am enjoying every bit of it, but I have to admit, I am looking forward to my favorite of all of the seasons. Fall is nearing & I cannot wait. Owls are all the rage these days. I have noticed them popping up everywhere lately. As a longtime lover of these soulful creatures, I am happy to see this. My 3 year has followed in her mommy’s footsteps and loves them as well. We have owl knick knacks & stuffed owls. Her favorite blanket even is, you guessed it, an owl blanket & it goes with her everywhere.
