Paul Klee Inspired Block Printing

Here is a fun printmaking project inspired by artist Paul Klee and his painting Castle and Sun.

Do your kids watch Little Einsteins? My little girl loves them and was watching them the other day. If you do watch them, you know that they feature an artist and a composer each episode. Paul Klee was the artist in this episode.  My daughter wants to know everything and anything that she can about the great artists. Klee was one that we have not covered yet, so she, of course, wanted to know more about him. We read a little about him online and then looked over his collection of works. Castle and Sun caught our eye. The combination of colors and shapes reminded us of building blocks. I thought that it would be fun to try stamping with the building blocks and create our own Paul Klee inspired artwork.

30 Artist Inspired Art Projects For Kids

It brings me so much joy knowing that my daughter loves art as much as I do. My five-year old spends the vast majority of her free time drawing, painting or crafting. It is wonderful to be able to share this with her.

I introduced her to the great artists early on and her curiosity and love for them has grown and grown. She wants to read books about them (We included a list of some of our favorite kid’s book about famous artists at the bottom of the post.) and look at pictures of their different artwork. She wants to know everything about them and loves trying to recreate their work and experiment with each artist’s techniques. It is amazing. Sufficed to say, artist inspired art projects have quickly become a favorite in our home. Here is a great collection of some of our favorite artist inspired projects for kids.

Baking Soda Eruption Prints

Baking soda and colored vinegar eruptions have been one of our daughter’s favorite activities for years. What’s not to like? They’re fun. They’re fizzy and they’re colorful. They are so beautiful that we have even made a few art projects using the eruptions. For Valentine’s Day this year, we made Fizzing Heart Art. The fizzing hearts were such a hit, that we wanted to try it again. The plan was that we were going to make red, white and blue fizzing stars for the Fourth of July, but my daughter stumbled across an idea of her own. We have been doing a large number of printing projects lately, so my daughter turned our original project into these beautiful baking soda eruption prints.
