Shape Castle Silhouettes With Watercolors

It is Harry Potter mania in my house. My daughter and I just finished book one, The Sorcerer’s Stone and are now moving on to The Chamber of Secrets.  She is in love with all things Harry Potter and so am I.  This past week the focus has been on Hogwarts Castle. I love castles and with all of the Harry Potter talk in the house I felt inspired to paint a little bit of Hogwarts. This kicked off our castle projects. We have been practicing drawing and painting castles and made these fun castle silhouettes with watercolors and construction paper.

Watercolor Silhouette Landscapes

We have just returned from a wonderful two-week family vacation in Montana. While we were there, we visited the national parks and enjoyed a few scenic hikes with the Rocky mountains as our backdrop. The landscapes that we saw were breathtaking to say the least. Our recent trip inspired us to create a mountain landscape. Then our mountains inspired us to make a couple more. These watercolor silhouettes are perfect for toddlers to teens. Use the printable silhouette templates or create a silhouette of your own.

Tape Resist & Silhouette Lighthouse

Tape resist & silhouette sunset lighthouse canvas painting - arts & crafts projects for kids

We love canvas art projects in our house. We have so many canvas paintings that I could probably cover every inch of our home with them. There are some that we love and display and some are just for fun. The great thing about canvas art is that you can always reuse the canvas if you want to and we do. We love tape resist projects as well and we especially love working with silhouettes.

Halloween Paper Plate Silhouette Crafts

I have been thinking about Halloween a lot this week. I realized that I had a little planning to do after my daughter informed me that she would like to be a princess witch this year. September is more than halfway through and Halloween is sneaking up on us quickly. With Halloween on the brain, it inspired us to make a few paper plate crafts. I love silhouettes. There us something so beautiful and haunting about them, which makes them perfect for Halloween. These Halloween silhouettes are an easy craft for all ages.

Sunset Silhouette Painting Craft

Sunset Silhouette Painting Crafts for kids

We have had such an incredibly busy summer. We have barely had a chance to enjoy any of it. We finally got away this weekend with friends & went on our first & last beach trip of the year. We had a great time & so did the kids. Mai had a ton of fun with her best bud. They laughed & played together & created some beautiful memories together. One of my favorite moments of our trip was when the duo sat on the rocks & watched the sunset together. It was precious beyond words.

Wax Paper Ghosts

We love Halloween and making Halloween arts and crafts in our home. This year so far, we have made cauldrons, witches’ shoes, jack-o-lanterns, scarecrows, mummies, and pumpkin patches, but no ghosts. Ghost crafts have always been a tricky one for me. Ghosts should be transparent, shouldn’t they? But, it seems like they never are. That’s what makes the wax paper so great in these wax paper ghosts, even with a little paint they still keep some of their transparency and look adorably haunting.

Chalk Pastel Northern Lights

We have been seeing a lot of beautiful, fun and vibrant chalk pastel projects lately from our friends over at Projects With Kids. We felt so inspired by her beautiful chalk art that we wanted to try one of our own.

One of our bucket list items is to see the Northern Lights. My family went to Iceland a few years ago and our tour got canceled due to poor viewing conditions. We might not be able to see them just yet, but with the help of a few chalk pastels, we can sure make some pretty art. These chalk pastel Northern Lights are super easy and fun to make.
