Picasso Inspired Cubism Art For Kids

This Picasso inspired art project is a wonderful introduction to Cubism for the kids. This is great for an individual or a collaborative project.

My daughter and I stumbled across a book at the library a couple of weeks ago and it quickly became a new favorite of ours. Emily’s Blue Period (affiliate link) is a lovely book about a young girl who wants to become an artist and is studying the works of Pablo Picasso. Emily is also struggling with big emotions about her parent’s recent split. The book discusses Picasso’s blue period, his work in collage and his Cubism style of art. My daughter, like the young girl in the book, became fascinated by Picasso. We flipped through his artwork online and read more about him. This weekend, after reading the book for the umpteenth time, she wanted to make a “cube” project.

Pop Art Inspired Christmas Tree

We just put up our Christmas tree, so forgive me for the Christmas tree kick I find myself on this week. I can’t help myself. Christmas trees are fun to make and you can make them as simple or detailed as you want.

For our Christmas tree project, we chose a simple triangle shape with a rectangle trunk and circle bulbs. I think the clean lines of the simple shapes worked well and would be perfect for artists of all ages.

Warhol Inspired Fall Pop Art

Andy Warhol inspired pop art painting. Fall, autumn arts & crafts for the kids.

I know that there is still about a month left in the summer and as much as I don’t want to rush it, I am excited for the fall. I am! I admit it. Autumn is my favorite season and I’m not ashamed to say it. I am a fan of the fall.

I am also a fan of Andy Warhol. Here I am with his wax sculpture at Madam Tussauds.

Paint and Fold Autumn Reflections

Our favorite time of year is around the corner again and with it all of that beautiful fall scenery. This project is inspired by our Paint & Fold Winter Reflections. This is a favorite technique of ours. It is a fun and simple way for the kiddos (and adults) to create beautiful reflections.

If you enjoy our Paint and Fold Autumn Reflections, you may also like some of our other autumn arts & crafts.

10 Indian Corn Crafts For Kids

This may sound “corn”y, but I just adore Indian corn in the fall. I love all the colors, the reds, the oranges and the blues, to name a few. They make beautiful autumn decorations and are a lovely and simple craft for the little ones to make. We compiled a list of some of favorite Indian corn crafts for kids. We have corn made out of Fruit Loops and even corn inspired by one of our favorite artists.
