Printmaking and stamping projects are a favorite in our home. These processes are both fascinating and fun and they are great for the young and the old. Simply enjoy watching the shapes, lines and textures transfer onto paper or turn your prints and stamps into animals, flowers or a unique piece of art. Look around your house and outdoors for inspiration and printing materials. Experimenting and exploring different textures and surfaces is fun. Here are a few wonderful printing and stamping ideas to get you started.
The winter is officially here and we enjoyed a couple of snowy days this week to welcome the start of winter. We played outside in the snow all day yesterday and took in all of the beauty of the season. Watching the snowfall and looking at the snow-covered trees was enough to inspire some winter crafting.
We love working with clay and nature items. We have a collection of sticks and stones set aside for occasions just like this.
We recently inherited a large bin filled with potpourri fillers. My daughter & I were so excited at the opportunity to use them in our crafts. We started a few days ago by using them to make salt dough and nature wreaths. We also formed some lovely winter wonderlands. While making our wonderlands and playing around the potpourri, we came up with another idea for the season.

The potpourri that were used were cinnamon pine cones, cinnamon sticks, star anise, pink roses and some other items that I am not sure of, but I am sure many potpourri fillers or herbs will work nicely.
Engineering activities are wonderful for improving your children’s fine motor skills, problem solving abilities and their imaginations.

My daughter loves to build. She can and will construct out of anything. We build with recyclables.
We build with nature.
A fun thing happened the other day. I found a huge bag of pine cones in my basement.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have been really enjoying the beautiful weather that we have had the past few days. The summer is coming fast. It is time to pull out our shorts & swimsuits and spend less time cooped up in the house. There will be trips to the beach, the park & the zoo, but there are so many great activities that you can do right in your own backyard. Here are some awesome ideas for a fun, creative & educational summer.
