Paper Plate Four Season Spinner

We live in New England. It is not uncommon to be playing in the snow one day and then to be outside in shorts the next. The weather can be crazy and unpredictable. As much as we sometimes like to complain about the ever-changing weather, I would not change it for a thing. There is something to love about each season.  My favorite is watching the trees. I love the gorgeous colors that the fall brings and the  haunting beauty of a bare tree getting ready for the winter. Right now, we are excited to see the buds on the trees preparing to sprout for the spring. We love each and every season. Because of this, four season crafts are a favorite of ours. Here is a fun four season craft with a twist (literally).Paper plate four season spinner. Winter, spring, summer and fall trees. arts and crafts for kids.

Painted Captain Underpants Pumpkin

Our little girl loves books. She has gone through many different favorites in her five years on this earth. They usually change from week to week. Ever since we have gotten into chapter books though, there has only been one favorite and that is Captain Underpants. She cannot get enough of him and his sidekicks, George and Harold. We have read them all. She draws the characters all the time and the characters have even inspired her to want to become a comic book writer. We went to a local farm this weekend and stocked up on pumpkins. Since my girl loves that whacky superhero so much, I thought that I would make her a Captain Underpants pumpkin to greet her as she leaves the house and comes home from school every day. His simple features made this an easy and fun painted pumpkin.

These black glue scarecrow puppets are fun to design and paint and will make for a fun fall themed puppet show for the kids when they are done.

Crumpled Newspaper Fall Tree

We are kind of excited about this simple crumpled newspaper fall tree craft.

Corrugated cardboard is a favorite material of ours. The texture of the ridges in the cardboard adds a great feel to any project. I love the earthy look that the cardboard brings to the tree trunk. The crumpled newspaper was fun to work with and form and it added another element of texture to this pretty mixed media project.

Dixie Cup Squirrel Craft

These Dixie cup squirrels are an easy and adorable fall craft.

My daughter ever so randomly and matter-of-factly said to me the other day, “Mama, let’s make a squirrel craft.” It was so out of the blue. I had to ask why. Her simple answer was “Because they are so cute”. That was good enough for me and let’s be honest, they are pretty cute. These Dixie cup squirrels are perfect for the fall and were easy to make.

Pine Cone Fall Tree Craft

My obsession with fall trees continues. I’m obsessed! I admit it. I just can’t help myself. They are just so beautiful.   Last winter, we made lovely snow-covered trees and Christmas trees out of pine cones, so we thought why not try this with fall trees as well. We just so happened to have a large bag of assorted pine cones kicking around and have been waiting for a reason to use them. Coiled Yarn Snowman

Coiled Yarn Snowman Craft - kid's arts and crafts for Christmas and winter. A great fine motor skill activity. Button embellishments

Earlier in the fall, my daughter and I made autumn trees by coiling yarn and pipe cleaners. The trees came out so beautiful and were a wonderful fine motor activity for my little girl.

Heading into winter and with snow on its way this week, I wanted to try another coiled yarn project for the winter. Snowmen were a perfect idea for this method. Here’s how…
