Footprint Animal Crafts A-Z Featuring U, V & W

Last night we tackled U, V & W in our footprint animal crafts from A-Z. That leaves us with only 3 more letters. These last few letters leave us with very few options. We opted to make a mythical animal for our U because of our lack of choices. Mai wanted a rainbow colored unicorn, so that is what we did. Here is how.

U is for Unicorn

Start by painting your child’s foot in the colors of the rainbow.

Press the painted foot onto a piece of paper.

Paint in a rainbow mane, ears & the unicorn’s horn.

Paint in the tail & legs. I actually messed up on the legs. Here is a little trick if you mess up on one of these crafts & don’t want to start over. Cut around the project, leaving out the error & glue it down to a piece of paper in the same color.

Paint or draw in the face with markers to finish it off.

V is for Vulture

Paint your child’s foot in red & black as shown.

Paint in the hind feathers on the side.

Paint in the beak & feet and use white paint to paint in neck feathers.

Dab on the whites of the eyes & outline the feathers. Use a marker to draw in the facial details.

W is for Walrus

Paint your child’s foot in brown & press onto a piece of paper.

Paint in the cheeks & nose and then the mouth & tusks.

Dab in the whites of the eyes & paint in the flippers. Use a marker to draw in whiskers & nostrils.

Paint in the eyeballs & paint in the tips of the flippers.

Footprint Animal Crafts From A – Z Featuring O, P & Q

We have been having a great time working on our footprint animals. I am excited to finish all of them from A-Z. They will make a lovely addition to our daughter’s new playroom in our new house. Our latest crafts are O for octopus, P for panda & Q for quail. Because of her new-found obsession with the movie ‘Home’, we made one bonus footprint craft inspired by the movie.

O is for octopus

Paint your child’s foot purple.

Press it onto a piece of paper.

Paint the octopus’ tentacles on & dab on two circles for the eyes. Draw in facial details with a magic marker.

Outline the underside of the tentacles in white. Let the paint dry.

Paint in eyeballs & dab on the suction cups.

P is for panda

Paint your child’s foot in mostly white. Paint the toes & around the sides of the foot, avoiding the heel, in black.

Dab on circles of black for the eyes. Let dry & then dab on a circle of white. Paint in the ears, nose & mouth.

Paint in small arms & add bamboo to finish off your craft.

Q is for quail

Paint your child’s foot in a few different colors as shown & press into a piece of paper.

Paint in the tail feathers, the top plume & dot on an eye. Paint a “c” shape in to define the face.

Add a beak & feet. Dot on an eyeball & add details for the feathers.

As promised, we also did a bonus footprint this week. Mai is just in love with the movie ‘Home’. We made a footprint craft inspired by the movie.

30 Farm Animal Crafts & Activities

It has been a busy year and we have not been posting nearly as much as we would have liked. We are ready and hoping to get back into the crafting swing of things. Last year was a big year for us with the release of our first children’s book, ‘Farmer Pete Has Stinky Feet.’ We are getting ready to print our second book and couldn’t be more excited. But, before that hits the presses, we wanted to share with you a collection of fun farm animal crafts, in honor of our favorite stinky farmer.

Footprint Fiffer Feffer Feff

My daughter has the gift of rhyme. Her Nana has become lovingly referred to as Nana Banana and I am affectionately known as Mama Drama. Maybe she inherits this from the poet in me or perhaps she gets it from her love for Dr. Seuss.

Her favorite Dr. Seuss books over the past couple of weeks have been ‘The Lorax’ and ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go’ , but her constant favorite is Dr. Seuss’ ABC book. She knows this one by heart and can read it over & over again and her favorite Seuss creature in it is the Fiffer Feffer Feff.

I have been doing footprint crafts with my daughter’s feet since she was a newborn. I have keepsake after keepsake of her adorable little feet, which my daughter refers to as her stinky feet crafts” Sometimes she even paints mine and and makes crafts out of my feet.

Last night, we made a stinky foot craft of her favorite Dr. Seuss character to put in her reading area.

We dipped her foot in orange paint & pressed it onto a green background because that is how it is in the book.

We painted in the furry collar & hands with yellow paint.

We drew in the face & added spiky hair to the sides & top of his head and finished it off by gluing 4 feathers to the top of his head.

Footprint Elf On The Shelf

It is that time of year again. It is time to break out the Christmas decorations, send out your Christmas cards and put on your favorite carols. It is also time to bring that sneaky little elf out of hiding. We started the Elf on the Shelf tradition last year when we thought Mai was old enough to enjoy him. This year unfortunately, poor little Koontz (the name Mai picked for him) is locked away in storage waiting for our house to be finished.

Footprint Works Of Art

Over the past couple of months, I have been enjoying recreating famous paintings with the use of my daughter’s footprints. It all started because I wanted to make a black cat craft for Halloween. The cat reminded me of the famous poster art “Le Chat Noir”.

From that one footprint craft, I could not stop. I felt inspired to turn my daughter’s little feet into great works of art.

Next we moved on to Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’

This one had my daughter puzzled. “Why is he screaming so much, mama?”

I am not quite sure.

‘The Son Of Man’ aka The Man in the Bowler Hat by René Magritte always reminds me of the movie The Thomas Crown Affair.

More questions…”Why does he have an apple on his face?”

James Abbott McNeill Whistler’s ‘Arrangement in Grey and Black No.1’, more commonly known as Whistler’s Mother was a fun one to make.

‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh fascinated my daughter. She watched me paint in the swirls and asked if she could make a ‘Starry Night’ too. She has since made her own recreations several times.

I added two more to my collection this weekend.

On Saturday, I made a footprint art inspired by Pablo Picasso’s ‘The Old Guitarist’.

My husband really liked this one. I was pretty excited at how it came out too. I only needed 3 colors for this one, so it was less messy than my others.

Last but not least, was my toughest challenge. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but tackling a Seurat inspired ‘A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte’, was a bit more than I bargained for. It is no wonder it took Seurat 2 years to paint his masterpiece. My much much much smaller footprint version was no Sunday afternoon walk in the park, but we finished it. Phew!! Can you even spot the footprint in all of those spots?

These were all a ton of fun to make & I cannot wait to display my daughter’s feet throughout the house.

Footprint Gumball Machine & Starry Night

It is no secret that I love footprint crafts. My latest footprint crafts have been inspired by famous works of art. Last night, I felt inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I was ready to start our Starry night project and then passed by this gumball machine at the house we are staying at during our home build.
