Newspaper and Watercolor Snowflake Art

The other day, I showed my little girl how to cut snowflakes. In the beginning, she had a bit of a hard time snipping through the folded paper, so we switched over to newspaper for our tutorial. We cut a bunch of them in different sizes. You can find directions on how to cut a snowflake here.
Paper Plate Owl Suncatcher
I adore owls. I have since I was a little girl. My home is filled with owl knicks knacks and wall hangings. My daughter inherited her mother’s love. Her favorite blanket just happens to be a beautiful owl blanket that a sweet friend made for her for my baby shower.
Northern Lights With Watercolors
This week our family & I are heading to Iceland for vacation. My husband & I have been before & love it there. We are excited to take our daughter to see the geysers & walk the ice tunnel, but our main reason for going is to try our luck at seeing the Northern Lights. There is no guarantee that we will see them, but we are hopeful & eager. I have been telling our daughter all about them & showing her photos on the computer. “Oooooh, that’s pretty mama!” They certainly are. They also made a great subject for a painting with our new homemade watercolors.
Winter Window Scene
We have been reading a lot of books lately. On Sunday, I felt like we read about a hundred of them, though in actuality it was probable only about 5 or 6. In one of the books or magazines that we read together, there was a lovely illustration of children looking out the window. I love crafts in windows & I thought that a simple winter scene with the silhouette of children looking out would be a cute one.
Paper Plate Winter Crafts
Most of our crafts are inspired by random things that we encounter in our everyday life. Both crafts that we made yesterday were inspired by objects that I saw in my aunt’s home where we are staying during our house build. We are currently residing in her finished cellar. Yesterday, I was trying to clean up and organize some of the stuff that we brought with us. As I was trying to find a home for all of our things, I came across a fake poinsettia. It was soft & glittery and pretty and the perfect subject for a craft.
