My 4 year old loves to play with yarn. Many of our favorite activities and crafts are wrapped or threaded with yarn. We made lovely yarn wrapped hearts earlier this year & my daughter loved it.
She loves the yarn because she loves to unravel & cut it and I love it because it is great for her fine motor skills.

This craft is fun to make & is fun to play with after you are finished, at least my daughter thought so.
What you will need:
Regular craft sticks
Buttons or other embellishment (optional)
Break two regular size craft sticks in half. This will give you 4 pieces. Use a glue gun to glue the four pieces to a jumbo stick for arms & legs. (Operate caution when operating a glue gun.)
My daughter requested that her doll have a dress, so we broke 2 regular sticks & used 3 of the pieces to form a triangle for the skirt.
If you do make a girl, I recommend leaving off the legs, but she just want me to add the skirt to the above shapes.
We both wrapped our dolls with different colored yarn. She worked on her girl & I worked on making a boy. My little girl did a great job wrapping her doll & cutting the thread. She just needed a little help knotting if off at the end,
She drew a face & hair onto her little lady & then added a couple of buttons with glue.
I wrapped some yarn around my finger a few times & then pulled the yarn right off my finger & glued it to the top of my doll, still all curly. I added googly eyes & drew in a nose & mouth and then a few buttons for the shirt.
My daughter made a friend for her doll.
I made a friend for mine as well.
My little girl had a blast playing with all of the dolls after.
Thank you as always for stopping by. Please follow us on Facebook as well.
Love how simple this one is and definitely have some yarn and popsicle sticks around here, so might have to try this for a summer afternoon craft project with my girls now!! 🙂
