Painted Captain Underpants Pumpkin

Our little girl loves books. She has gone through many different favorites in her five years on this earth. They usually change from week to week. Ever since we have gotten into chapter books though, there has only been one favorite and that is Captain Underpants. She cannot get enough of him and his sidekicks, George and Harold. We have read them all. She draws the characters all the time and the characters have even inspired her to want to become a comic book writer. We went to a local farm this weekend and stocked up on pumpkins. Since my girl loves that whacky superhero so much, I thought that I would make her a Captain Underpants pumpkin to greet her as she leaves the house and comes home from school every day. His simple features made this an easy and fun painted pumpkin.

Dixie Cup Bobble Head Bat Craft

Halloween is next month and we have already started planning our costumes. My daughter told me ages ago that she wanted to be a bat this year for Halloween. That hasn’t changed and it is all that she has been talking about. Bats, bats, bats have been on the mind. While brainstorming ideas for making her costume, I couldn’t help but make some bat crafts too. I am kind of in love with this bobble head bat. He is so cute and silly and it is fun to make him bobble and fly.

Easy Halloween Paintings

Easy blob painted Halloween paintings. Paint a black cat, ghost or pumpkin. This is a perfect arts and craft activity for toddlers and preschoolers

My daughter had a very busy week. This week she had soccer practice, swim lessons and her first acting class. The week must have tired her out because when the weekend came, she asked if she could have a pajama craft day. How could I say no to that. A pajama craft day sounded fantastic. We have a younger friend of the family that loves craft time at our house, so we invited her over for pajama craft day as well.

They wanted to do something Halloween themed. My daughter said that she wanted to make ghosts and mummies. I wanted to keep it simple for our younger friend, so we made what we dubbed “Splat Painting”. It was not quite a splat, but more of a free form painting turned into a cute Halloween craft.

The kids used acrylic paints and painted onto their pieces of paper. They painted white for ghosts, black for black cats, orange for pumpkins.

They sprinkled glitter over their paintings because they found my glitter stash and kids just love glitter.

We cut simple shapes out of construction paper for each of our creations. The girls glued the shapes and googly eyes over each of their paintings to form their Halloween creatures.

Here are some of the creations that we came up with. How cute are these?

Yarn Wrapped Broomsticks

Halloween is a favorite holiday in our house. My daughter is very theatrical and loves to play dress up and, of course, she loves the candy as well.Yarn wrapped witches' brooms crafts for Halloween. A great fine motor skill activity and kid's crafts. Arts & craft for preschoolers.

Last year, my daughter was a witch and while she outgrew her costume, she still uses her witch’s broom and hat all of the time.

Cardboard Tube Haunted House

Paper towel roll and toilet paper tube haunted house craft. Cardboard tubes arts & crafts - spooky Halloween project for kids.

Recyclables make perfect craft materials. For one, they are free and you just cannot beat that. The other thing is that they are always readily available. I have a huge bin filled with egg cartons and assorted cardboard tubes that I save. I had collected so many tubes, that I had to make something with them.

With Halloween nearing, I had just the haunting craft in mind.

For this craft you will need:

A paper towel roll

Two toilet paper rolls

Black acrylic paint

Yellow acrylic paint

Black heavy stock paper

Gold or silver marker

White yarn

Tacky glue or a low temp glue gun (Always use caution when operating a glue gun.)

Cut the top of the paper towel roll to form a peak. Cut out a door flap and windows throughout. Cut the toilet paper rolls at a slight slant. The slants will be at the bottom so that the toilet paper tubes will slant away from the paper towel roll when placed around it.

Paint the outside of the tubes in black and then paint the inside in yellow. Let the paint dry.

img_4572

Glue the two toilet paper tubes to the sides of the paper towel roll.

img_4574

Cut two triangles & two rectangles out of the black paper. Use a marker to make roof shingles on each paper. Glue the two triangles together at the top of the paper towel roll and then add the rectangles.

Cut a small piece of white yarn and unravel it. Pull the threads from the yarn and string along the roof tops to make cobwebs.
