For some reason in our house, we go through tooth brushes like crazy. We just replaced our last set of toothbrushes.  I was about to throw them out when I thought that we could use them for something fun. My daughter and I love to paint without paint brushesWe have seen toothbrush painting before, but had never tried it. Today, seemed like as good a time as any. Since we’re on a rainbow kick right now, we decided to paint a rainbow with our toothbrushes.

We squeezed out acrylic paints in all of the colors of the rainbow. Note: Initially, the paint was too thick and clumped up on the toothbrush, so I added just a touch of water to thin them out.

The technique was rather simple. We dipped the brush into the red paint and then painted our first arch. My daughter brushed back and forth on the arch until the color was the way that she wanted it.

We moved to the next color in the rainbow and painted that arch underneath the first one and so on.

This is a wonderful art activity for the spring or St. Patrick’s Day.
