I enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend with the family. We went to the pumpkin patch one day, went on a hay ride and went to a wonderful evening theater production in the woods. It was a walk through production for the kids with multiple skits along the way. My daughter had a great time and laughed the whole way through.

Hole Punch Red, White & Blue Heart

My little girl loves to hone her fine motor skills. She is getting really good at using her scissors & she just loves our paper hole punch. She will grab pieces of construction paper & punch holes all over them. She loves playing with the collection of dots collected inside of the puncher too. She punched a few sheets of blue paper the other day & collected all of the dots in a cup. It looked like confetti.
With the 4th of July nearing, I had her punch some red & white too & thought we could make a craft out of all of those holes.
I drew fireworks out onto black paper with school glue & sprinkled the red, white & blue confetti over it.
We tried this again using a heart shape. My daughter loved throwing the confetti around. The paper dots made such a colorful & festive craft & they were so easy to make.
We will start collecting all of our hole dots for future crafts.

For the next few months, we will be all things red, white & blue. We just purchased a ton of canvas & had the perfect project for the upcoming holidays.
Patriotic Wind Chimes
We are getting ready for the Fourth of July & are already feeling patriotic in our house.
We have been enjoying making our red, white & blue crafts and learning a little bit about the holiday as we go. We have already made a few for the inside of our house, today we decided to make a craft for the outside as well.
Patriotic Pasta Wind Chimes
Color your pasta by shaking in a baggie with red & then white paints or food coloring. Lay in a single layer on wax paper to dry.
Poke holes into a paper bowl.
Paint the bowl blue & let dry.
Cut stars out of white foam.
Glue around the bowl making sure not to cover the holes.
Pull yarn or string through your holes.
Gather the string on the top & tie off.
String the colored pasta onto the yarn that is under the bowl. This is a great fine motor skill activity for your child. Knot at the bottom once you reach your desired length. Use hot glue to secure the knot in place so that it doesn’t unravel. (Hot glue should be operated by an adult)
Hang it outside & enjoy.
