Painted Rock Family

If your family rocks, let everyone know. Painted Rock Family - Paint your family or make mix and match people with simple canvases from nature. Arts and craft projects for kids

We have a house filled with craft supplies, but still the outdoors is our favorite place to shop for craft materials. We have a large box that we keep on our porch filled with acorns, sticks and rocks that we collected and set aside for future projects.

We had a ton of rocks and wanted to use them. When we started, we were going to make mix and match people, but my daughter insisted that the rocks had to be our family.

I washed each of the rocks first and set them aside to dry. I chose rocks to represent the body and then different ones for the head.

We painted the rocks for the heads in a flesh tone using acrylic paint.

I painted the very top of the body rock in the flesh tone as well to give our family members a little hint of a neck.

On the bodies, we painted on simple clothes and let the rocks dry.

We used school glue to glue on googly eyes and then yarn for the hair. We used a fine tip paint brush to paint on the noses and mouths as well as any other finer details on the clothing or on the face.

We did not glue our heads on because we were having fun mixing up the heads and bodies, but you can choose to glue your heads into place.

This is such a sweet and simple project to make with your kids and a great way to let everyone know that your family rocks.
