What you will need:

Paper plate

Acrylic paint or markers

Construction paper

Glue stick or white glue

Googly eyes

Printable Penguins (optional)

Directions:

Fold a paper plate in half.

Draw the outline of a few penguins onto the paper plate or use our printable template.

Cut around your outline. Be sure to leave the heads attached at the fold on top.

Paint the head and the sides of the body in black paint. You can paint the backside of the paper plate in black or leave it blank.

Let the paint dry.

Cut feet out of orange construction paper. Cut them a little longer than you want them so that you can fold them under the plate to attach them.

Fold the feet and add glue to the top of the fold and then fold it under the paper plate.

Crease the feet so that they are perpendicular to the body.

Finish them off by cutting out small orange triangles for the beaks and adding googly eyes. Set your penguins down on a table and giving them a little tap and watch them waddle for you.

We made a few of these and found that with too much paint that the penguins shape may change a bit. If the penguins lose their shape and sturdiness after painting, you can lightly bend them back into place. Adding a dab of glue at the creases at the top of the heads will help as well.
