Hot Air Balloon Suncatcher

I don’t know what it is about hot air balloons that make them so fascinating and beautiful. Maybe it is their bright colors or the fire dancing below them powering them up higher and higher. Either way, a sky full of hot air balloons is just mesmerizing. This mixed media suncatcher captures some of their magic. This is a pretty and simple project for the spring or summer.

CD Case Artwork For Kids

CD cases are perfect for making and showcasing artwork.

Just a few days ago, we experimented with printmaking using CDs.  It was a wonderful activity that both my daughter and I enjoyed. The paint on our prints had not even finished drying yet, before my daughter was asking what we could do with the CD cases. Since CD cases make wonderful frames with their clear plastic covers, we played around with different CD case artwork to showcase. Here were our favorites.

Bleeding Tissue Paper Butterflies

Summer is only a few short weeks away and our yard is already starting to fill up with the flutter of butterfly wings. Today, we were lucky enough to get to study one resting in our garden. My daughter loves them. She was so excited about seeing that beautiful little butterfly that she wanted to make one later that day. We love working with bleeding tissue. I don’t know if it is the excitement of getting to tear the tissue paper into little pieces or if it is using the squirt bottle that my daughter likes more. Either way, the process is a fun one. Bleeding tissue paper butterflies with a free printable template. Paint with tissue paper. Kid's spring and summer arts and crafts

Bleeding Tissue Paper Shamrocks

Bleeding tissue paper painting is a fun alternative to traditional painting. These bleeding tissue paper shamrocks are a fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day art idea.

Bleeding tissue paper is one of our favorites ways to paint. It is fun. It is messy and it produces very cool results. We have made a few bleeding tissue projects for Christmas and then Valentine’s Day. With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, we had to make one for St. Paddy’s, as well. I love these bleeding tissue paper shamrocks because they are so simple.
