Watercolor Silhouette Landscapes

We have just returned from a wonderful two-week family vacation in Montana. While we were there, we visited the national parks and enjoyed a few scenic hikes with the Rocky mountains as our backdrop. The landscapes that we saw were breathtaking to say the least. Our recent trip inspired us to create a mountain landscape. Then our mountains inspired us to make a couple more. These watercolor silhouettes are perfect for toddlers to teens. Use the printable silhouette templates or create a silhouette of your own.

Paper Towel Roll Sculptures

Turn your recyclables into a simple art project that you and your kids will love.

My daughter is a big fan of tinkering with our bin full of recyclables. Cardboard rolls are easily her favorite. She loves to paint them and tie them together, poke holes in them and anything else she can imagine. We found ourselves with an over abundance of paper towel rolls this weekend and wanted to play around with them.  What we came up with were these simple paper towel roll sculptures.

Marshmallow Stamped Bumble Bees

This spring craft is as easy as A, Bee, C.

Marshmallows are a soft and sweet treat. We always have a bag or two in our house. They are great for making s’mores and for adding to hot chocolate. That much is true, but we also discovered a while ago that they are fun for painting with as well. With the spring here, the bumble bees have been buzzing around our yard and they also inspired our latest marshmallow stamped craft.marshmallow paint stamped bumble bees - easy spring and summer arts and crafts for kids

Spring and Summer Fan Craft

These hand fans are an easy and lovely craft for the spring and summer.

We made pretty Asian style hand fans for the Lunar New Year a few months back. They were such a big hit and so much fun to make that we wanted to make more for the spring and summer. I love these fans. They are simple to make and the kids will enjoy decorating them with their own designs.

Paint Blot Art Inspiration For Kids

  1. Paint blots are a fun and easy way to create and explore your imagination.

My daughter and I have been making paint blots together since she was only a couple years old. At first, it was just interesting to see what she saw in the blots and then it was fun to watch her make her own paint blots. Today, we did both and found great inspiration within our blots.

Van Gogh Inspired Fork Scrape Painting

Over the last month or so, my 5 year old has become fascinated with famous artists. We stumbled across a few wonderful books at the library about DaVinci, Matisse, Picasso and Van Gogh. The more that she learns about them, the more she wants to know. Her new goal in life is to become a great artist and have her work on display in a museum. Van Gogh inspired fork scrape painted The Starry Night . Art and painting projects for kids. Nature and Watercolors

Nature and watercolors combine to make a beautiful and fun piece of process art.

With the warmer weather here, we have been playing outdoors a lot more. All of this outdoor play means our nature boxes are filling up with great supplies for art projects and crafts. We gather and collect nature items all of the time and set them aside in boxes. It is fun to find different shaped leaves, rocks and cool looking plants. My five year old loves to glue nature items to paper to make collages. That is where we found inspiration for this nature and watercolors project.Nature and watercolor paints art collage for kids. A pretty and fun piece of process art for the preschoolers and kids. Watercolor Dipped Flower Art

This pretty watercolor technique is perfect for the spring or summer.

In our house, we love to work with watercolors. We like to make our own because we go through them so quickly. We have made solid watercolorswhich we love to use, but most of all, we just water down acrylic paints or mix food coloring with water. It just so happens that we did both of these things this past week and had quite a bit of both leftover to create these gorgeous watercolor dipped flowers. Watercolor dipped flower art. Cherry Blossom Drip Art

This is a big week for us. Our little girl turns five this week. I can hardly believe it.  We have been getting things ready for her big Lego themed party, but still managed to paint a little something together in honor of her and her birthday. My daughter was named after my mother. They share the same name with the same lovely meaning, cherry blossom.
