Landscape projects are a favorite of ours. I just adore the soft and peaceful feel of them. There are so many pretty scenes that you can create and there is a variety of ways in which you can do it. We dabble with different ways to create landscapes all the time and we love seeing and trying other ideas that we see too. Hummingbird Craft with Printable
The thing that I love about printables is that there is no one way that you have to use them. My daughter teaches me that every time we do a project together. This week we had fun making hummingbirds. Our hummingbird template got a lot of use and we made several using different media.
Wax Paper Bubble Art
The spring is here!! Hip hip hooray! One of our favorite warm weather activities is blowing bubbles. My little girl is crazy for bubbles. Bubbles are so beautiful and magical and just make you happy. These were enough reasons to make a bubble project for the spring. This pretty mixed media bubble project combines watercolors, wax paper and pastels. 
Pastels and Watercolors Stained Glass
We are back again with one of our favorite painting techniques, sugar painting. We cannot get enough of it. The beautiful glossy finish of the sugar and watercolors were perfect for making these stained glass art projects. This is a great idea for the holidays, but it is also fun to make all year round.
Mixed Media Elf Shoes
We love mixed media art projects. Last winter, we made several mixed media artworks including a Christmas village, a snowy birdhouse and even a cute and cuddly little penguin. This year, we started our first, of I am sure many, Christmas projects with these adorable elf shoes. We say elf shoes, but the fun and focus is on the tights. Watercolor Black Glue Fall Art
The fall is drawing near and this fall loving lady is thrilled. Watercolor and Salt Paintings
I love the reaction that occurs when you combine salt and watercolors. Salt paintings are a fun process that your kids will love.
Try sprinkling salt on a freshly painted watercolor picture and see what happens. It is lovely. Another cool process is painting on the salt with watercolors. This is a messy process, but a fun one that will certainly delight your kids. A word of warning, this technique is more about the process and the fun than the final product. There are changes that occur to the paintings upon drying. We have included some notes and suggestions about the salt paintings at the bottom of the post.
Black Glue and Watercolor Picasso Portraits
My daughter and I have been learning a lot about the famous artists together these past few months. She has become fascinated by them. She has been attending art camp this week. On her first day, she came home with a clay Picasso portrait and a lot of new knowledge about the famous artist. She drew a bunch of Picasso inspired portraits that evening. They were wonderful. Her drawings inspired these Picasso portraits.
Watercolor Silhouette Landscapes
We have just returned from a wonderful two-week family vacation in Montana. While we were there, we visited the national parks and enjoyed a few scenic hikes with the Rocky mountains as our backdrop. The landscapes that we saw were breathtaking to say the least. Our recent trip inspired us to create a mountain landscape. Then our mountains inspired us to make a couple more.
