We do love making mosaics in this house. We’ve made paper mosaics, pasta mosaics and even nature mosaics. We also love making all kinds of resist art because, let’s face it, it is just so cool. So, what happens when we combine the two? We get these amazing pastel resist mosaic Jack-O-Lanterns that combine two of our favorites with lovely results. This is a beautiful fall or Halloween project for the kiddos.

Pastel & Watercolor Peacock Feathers
Hello all! This week, we played around with pastels and watercolors to make some pretty and easy art. These pastel and watercolor peacock feathers were so quick and easy to make that my little one and I got a little carried away and ended up making a bunch. All you need for these are watercolor paper, oil pastels and some watercolors.
Chalk Pastel Northern Lights
We have been seeing a lot of beautiful, fun and vibrant chalk pastel projects lately from our friends over at Projects With Kids. We felt so inspired by her beautiful chalk art that we wanted to try one of our own.
One of our bucket list items is to see the Northern Lights. My family went to Iceland a few years ago and our tour got canceled due to poor viewing conditions. We might not be able to see them just yet, but with the help of a few chalk pastels, we can sure make some pretty art. These chalk pastel Northern Lights are super easy and fun to make.

Indian corn is so pretty to me and it makes for fun arts and crafts for the fall. This easy to make Indian corn project is made using pastel resist and watercolors. The results are beautiful.
Shape Castle Silhouettes With Watercolors
It is Harry Potter mania in my house. My daughter and I just finished book one, The Sorcerer’s Stone and are now moving on to The Chamber of Secrets. She is in love with all things Harry Potter and so am I. This past week the focus has been on Hogwarts Castle. I love castles and with all of the Harry Potter talk in the house I felt inspired to paint a little bit of Hogwarts. This kicked off our castle projects. We have been practicing drawing and painting castles and made these fun castle silhouettes with watercolors and construction paper.
Wax Paper Bubble Art
The spring is here!! Hip hip hooray! One of our favorite warm weather activities is blowing bubbles. My little girl is crazy for bubbles. Bubbles are so beautiful and magical and just make you happy. These were enough reasons to make a bubble project for the spring. This pretty mixed media bubble project combines watercolors, wax paper and pastels.
Pastels and Watercolors Stained Glass
We are back again with one of our favorite painting techniques, sugar painting. We cannot get enough of it. The beautiful glossy finish of the sugar and watercolors were perfect for making these stained glass art projects. This is a great idea for the holidays, but it is also fun to make all year round.
