Nature Crafting With Clay

I am beginning to think more and more that my four year old and my husband are the real writers of this blog, especially my little girl. She has been coming up with so many amazing ideas on her own lately, that I cannot help but beam with pride. Both of the crafts here today are inspired by my crafty clan.

Nature and clay fairy crafts. This adorable craft was made with acorns, sticks and leaves. Salt Dough would work too. Kid's arts and crafts. - preschoolers

My husband had a great idea to build log cabins out of sticks. I thought this would be a fun project for me and my daughter. We grabbed a box and set out to gather supplies, which as you know is always half of the fun. We gathered sticks and my daughter also grabbed a few acorns and rocks that she found.

Painted Rock Autumn Trees

Fall autumn trees made from painted rocks - kid's arts & crafts made from nature..

My daughter has recently decided that she is now a rock collector. She loves to bend down and pick up rocks wherever she sees them. Lucky for her, our driveway is filled & lined in rocks. Yesterday, she sat in the driveway & carefully picked a bunch to bring indoors and add to our growing pile.

Warhol Inspired Fall Pop Art

Andy Warhol inspired pop art painting. Fall, autumn arts & crafts for the kids.

I know that there is still about a month left in the summer and as much as I don’t want to rush it, I am excited for the fall. I am! I admit it. Autumn is my favorite season and I’m not ashamed to say it. I am a fan of the fall.

I am also a fan of Andy Warhol. Here I am with his wax sculpture at Madam Tussauds.

Nature Printed Rocks

It was another beautiful weekend and we had a ton of outdoor fun. While sitting out on the grass, I was struck by this beautiful shadow that was cast on one of the rocks. I quick ran inside & grabbed some paints and was going to capture the shadow on the rock with some paint. We explored shadows and art last month and I thought this would be a beautiful project to do. Alas, the sun disappeared and did not come back and I lost my lovely shadow.

Paper Bowl Nature Nest Craft

This is a fun & easy nature craft for your kids. Glue items found in nature into a paper bowl

It has been gorgeous weekend. My daughter & I spent most of our morning yesterday playing outdoors. The leaves have already begun to turn & the acorns have fallen. Mai ran around the yard gathering them both into piles. She added in some sticks and rocks as well.

We used paper bowls to collect & separate them in. This gave me an idea. We could glue the items into our bowls & make nests.

This is a simple craft that all ages groups should enjoy.

Squeeze a liberal amount of glue all around the inside of your bowl. Lay leaves, grass, sticks, bark etc.. into the bowl. (Use caution when gathering your items. Stay clear of poison ivy, thorn bushes & insect infested areas)

Add more glue in between layers to hold everything together.

To make your rock bird, paint the rock in the color of your choice & glue on foam or construction paper wings, feet & beak. Add googly eyes.

Mai did not want a bird in her nest. She only wanted acorns.

My daughter and I do arts and crafts project just about every day. Many times, I take inspiration for our projects by things that happen over the course of our day. Sometimes, I just get a random idea and many times my daughter calls the shots.  I had an idea last night to make nature fossils out of play dough, assorted leaves, flowers and small pebbles. We made homemade play dough. We added some cinnamon to change the color and add a lovely smell. We rolled out the dough & cut a circle out of the dough to imprint onto.
