It’s happening again. My favorite time of year is coming and with it all those vibrant fall colors. These paint blot fall trees highlight my favorite thing about fall, the trees. This is a bright and colorful project that is quick and easy, is great for all ages and only requires a few items.
Ok! I am slightly obsessed with fall trees, but why wouldn’t I be? They are beautiful and so fun to make.

As you may know, we love working with yarn and I had an idea for a fall tree craft using yarn. I drew a swirly branched tree onto a piece of construction paper and cut a bunch of small pieces of yarn and coiled them with my fingers to glue around the branches. I thought that this would be a great fine motor activity as well as a pretty craft for my daughter.
We did a little bit of cleaning last week and stumbled across a ton of old scratched DVDs & CDs that do not play anymore. Since I hate throwing anything away, I was determined to make use of them. CDs are wonderful for a variety of crafts, but my favorite use for them is for making simple printmaking projects. These CD printed fall trees are quick, easy and perfect for the fall.
My daughter’s favorite series of chapter books is the Captain Underpants series. In this series of books, there is a mini section called the Flip-o-rama. It is a mini flip book within the existing story. My daughter loves this and has made several flip books of her own over the last few months. We have played around with them quite a bit and they have become a little bit of an obsession in our house. They are just so much fun to make. With fall on the way, we had a little fun with some fall themed flip books and we just had to share them with you. We have included printable tree templates to help get you going. These would be great to use for all seasons.
My obsession with fall trees continues. I’m obsessed! I admit it. I just can’t help myself. They are just so beautiful. Last winter, we made lovely snow-covered trees and Christmas trees out of pine cones, so we thought why not try this with fall trees as well. We just so happened to have a large bag of assorted pine cones kicking around and have been waiting for a reason to use them. Nature and recyclables combine to make this colorful pine cone fall tree.
Being a New Englander, I enjoy watching the seasons change. I eagerly anticipate the trees filling up with leaves in the spring and summer. Watching the snow falling on the bare branches in the winter is simply magical. And the fall….oh the fall. It is my favorite season of all. I love seeing the vibrant reds, yellows and oranges dancing around in the trees. It is such a beautiful sight. Fall is not quite here yet, but we wanted to start our first fall craft. Once we saw how pretty our project came out though, what started as one foil embossed fall tree, turned into a tree craft for each season.
Over the fall, my daughter and I had a blast making autumn trees. We painted and experimented with a few different methods, but our favorite was this lovely fall tree painted with bundled Q-tips.
We are deep into the fall now and the cold weather is here. The leaves are falling and some of the trees are bare now. I love the fall trees, but I also love the haunting beauty that comes with a bare tree, especially against the night sky.
We wanted to paint some night skies, but thought that bleeding tissue paper might be perfect for a our haunting scene.
My daughter has recently decided that she is now a rock collector. She loves to bend down and pick up rocks wherever she sees them. Lucky for her, our driveway is filled & lined in rocks. Yesterday, she sat in the driveway & carefully picked a bunch to bring indoors and add to our growing pile.
I am a New Englander. I love the changes in seasons. I love winter, spring, summer & fall for very different reason. I know that we still have a lot of summer left & I am enjoying every bit of it, but I have to admit, I am looking forward to my favorite of all of the seasons. Fall is nearing & I cannot wait. I love the crisp autumn air, Halloween, apple picking, cider & the changing of the leaves. Fall trees are so beautiful & they offer great inspiration for arts & crafts.
