Stuffed Paper Bag Fall Crafts

While cleaning out our kitchen the other day, I stumbled across a full package of brown paper lunch bags. We do not use them for lunches anymore… but oh! the crafting possibilities. When you have about 50 paper bags and a lazy weekend, what else is there to do but make a bunch of fall crafts.

Crumpled Newspaper Fall Tree

We are kind of excited about this simple crumpled newspaper fall tree craft.

Corrugated cardboard is a favorite material of ours. The texture of the ridges in the cardboard adds a great feel to any project. I love the earthy look that the cardboard brings to the tree trunk. The crumpled newspaper was fun to work with and form and it added another element of texture to this pretty mixed media project.

Dixie Cup Squirrel Craft

These Dixie cup squirrels are an easy and adorable fall craft.

My daughter ever so randomly and matter-of-factly said to me the other day, “Mama, let’s make a squirrel craft.” It was so out of the blue. I had to ask why. Her simple answer was “Because they are so cute”. That was good enough for me and let’s be honest, they are pretty cute. These Dixie cup squirrels are perfect for the fall and were easy to make.

Watercolor and Salt Paintings

I love the reaction that occurs when you combine salt and watercolors. Salt paintings are a fun process that your kids will love.

Try sprinkling salt on a freshly painted watercolor picture and see what happens. It is lovely. Another cool process is painting on the salt with watercolors. This is a messy process, but a fun one that will certainly delight your kids. A word of warning, this technique is more about the process and the fun than the final product. There are changes that occur to the paintings upon drying. We have included some notes and suggestions about the salt paintings at the bottom of the post.

Pointillism Fall Leaf Art

Pointillism is a fun painting technique that is also great for working on fine motor skills.

My little girl’s love for the great artists keeps growing and growing. I for one am overjoyed. I love that my five year old is so eager to learn everything that she can about them. Her newest interest is George Seurat and his style of painting. Pine Cone Fall Tree Craft

My obsession with fall trees continues. I’m obsessed! I admit it. I just can’t help myself. They are just so beautiful.   Last winter, we made lovely snow-covered trees and Christmas trees out of pine cones, so we thought why not try this with fall trees as well. We just so happened to have a large bag of assorted pine cones kicking around and have been waiting for a reason to use them. Tin Foil Embossed Trees For All Seasons

Being a New Englander, I enjoy watching the seasons change. I eagerly anticipate the trees filling up with leaves in the spring and summer. Watching the snow falling on the bare branches in the winter is simply magical. And the fall….oh the fall. It is my favorite season of all. I love seeing the vibrant reds, yellows and oranges dancing around in the trees. It is such a beautiful sight.  Fall is not quite here yet, but we wanted to start our first fall craft. Once we saw how pretty our project came out though, what started as one foil embossed fall tree, turned into a tree craft for each season.
