Nature Art Jungle Landscapes

I am certain that I have said it a million times, but my daughter loves creating with nature. It doesn’t matter if we are making land art outside or crafting with it indoors, she loves it all. We share ideas with each other all of the time. I love coming up with new and fun projects for us to do together, but I love it even more when she takes the lead. She has a beautifully creative mind and it is wonderful to listen to her thought process. These nature jungle landscapes were the product of my daughter’s artistic mind and I love them.

Bark Tribal Masks

Recently, we played around with painting on texture and painted on bark from our wood pile.  We enjoyed painting the bark. Our finished bark had a very tribal look to it. It was cool and they reminded me of tribal masks. Since that day, I have wanted to try to make tribal masks using bark and paint. It took a few weeks to get to, but we finally had an opportunity and a couple of good pieces of bark to work with.

Painting Bark Process Art

Nature and all of its different textures make a great paint canvas. Painting bark is a wonderful way to have some process art fun.

I love finding canvases in unusual places. My daughter and I will paint on just about anything, so when my husband brought in a big box of bark to use as kindling for a fire this weekend, we jumped all over it. Painting on nature is a favorite of ours because you can find such a variety of textures. We have painted on flowersWe have painted on rocks. We have painted on leaves, acorns, pine cones and sticks, but painting bark was a first for us.Painting bark process art. Painting on nature and texture. Kid's arts

Nature and Watercolors

Nature and watercolors combine to make a beautiful and fun piece of process art.

With the warmer weather here, we have been playing outdoors a lot more. All of this outdoor play means our nature boxes are filling up with great supplies for art projects and crafts. We gather and collect nature items all of the time and set them aside in boxes. It is fun to find different shaped leaves, rocks and cool looking plants. My five year old loves to glue nature items to paper to make collages. That is where we found inspiration for this nature and watercolors project.Nature and watercolor paints art collage for kids. A pretty and fun piece of process art for the preschoolers and kids. Leaf Bunny Nature Craft

This adorable leaf bunny nature craft is perfect for the springtime and Easter.

We have a rhododendron bush in our front yard. I love the leaves from that bush and pick them off often to use for arts and crafts projects with my daughter. The last time we worked with them, my brother-in-law stopped over and suggested that we could make Easter bunnies with them because the leaves looked like bunny ears. Brilliant! Now why didn’t I think of that? Either way, I used his great idea and made this adorable leaf bunny.

Painting With Nature Items

Use sticks, stones, leaves and branches to paint a fun piece of process art. Painting with nature is perfect for a spring, summer or fall day.

We have had a crazy few weeks weather wise. Last week, our yard was covered in snow. This week, we are wearing shorts outside. The snow was fun, but the warm weather was welcome. We took a family hike, went to park and just sat outside and enjoyed the weather. My daughter had a friend over during one of these gorgeous days. My daughter wanted to make a big art project with a roll of butcher paper that we have. I suggested that we take it outdoors in case it got messy and boy did it. The kids had a fun-filled morning of painting with nature and with their bodies.

Wood Slab Leprechaun House

My daughter has had a lot of questions about leprechauns. “Are they like an elf?” “Where do they live?” “Do they live in gingerbread houses?” These are just a few of the questions that I have received from my little girl in recent weeks. We looked up some pictures of leprechauns and where they live. “Mama, the leprechaun’s house looks like my fairy door.” Leprechauns and their homes are indeed enchanting and magical just like the fairies that my daughter loves so much. Wood Slab Leprechaun house and door. St Patrick's Day arts and crafts for kids. Paint, stickers, nature and gemstones made these pretty doors. A fairy house could be made as well.

Stick and Stone Winter Crafts

The winter is officially here and we enjoyed a couple of snowy days this week to welcome the start of winter. We played outside in the snow all day yesterday and took in all of the beauty of the season. Watching the snowfall and looking at the snow-covered trees was enough to inspire some winter crafting.

We love working with clay and nature items. We have a collection of sticks and stones set aside for occasions just like this.
