For some reason in our house, we go through tooth brushes like crazy. We just replaced our last set of toothbrushes.  I was about to throw them out when I thought that we could use them for something fun. Watercolor Dipped Flower Art

This pretty watercolor technique is perfect for the spring or summer.

In our house, we love to work with watercolors. We like to make our own because we go through them so quickly. We have made solid watercolorswhich we love to use, but most of all, we just water down acrylic paints or mix food coloring with water. Cardboard Tube Lanterns

The Lunar New Year is just a couple of weeks away. Last week, we shared with you our paper plate hand fans. If you enjoyed those, you might want to try this simple idea as well.   If you have an old cardboard tube and some paint kicking around, you can make one today to welcome in the Year of the Rooster.

Cut an old paper towel tube into thirds or use a single toilet paper tube. Paint the inside of the tube and the outside in the color or colors of your choice and let dry. Paint or use markers to make a design for your lantern. We used Sharpies to draw simple branches with flowers. Let the paint and/or markers dry completely before going to the next step.

We have been on a bit of a mixed media winter art kick over the past couple of weeks. My daughter really enjoys it and we have created some beautiful pieces together.
